For the launch of the French Guinguette restaurant, I wanted to do more than just show the space. I wanted to shoot and edit a video that felt like you were actually there, capturing the vibe of the place from a relaxed afternoon to a lively evening.
The goal here was to create a short, energetic video to announce the opening of French Guinguette. The name "Guinguette" itself refers to a type of French open-air drinking and eating spot with a really casual, fun atmosphere, so the video needed to have that same energy. It had to be a full sensory experience—showing the food, the drinks, the decor, and the general feeling of a great day turning into a great night.
I'm really happy with how the pacing turned out. The edit starts off slow and hazy, like a lazy afternoon, and then gradually builds momentum with faster cuts as it gets into the evening, showing the cocktails being made and the food being prepped. It mirrors the natural rhythm of the restaurant.
The whole video was shot handheld. This was a deliberate choice to make it feel more organic and personal, as if the viewer is a guest walking through the space and discovering little details for themselves. It avoided that static, overly polished feel and gave it more life.
This project was a blast to work on because it was all about capturing a feeling. It taught me how much storytelling you can do with just a camera and a good edit, blending shots of food, people, and atmosphere to create a cohesive vibe.
