When your goal is to reach and persuade high-level policymakers, your communication needs to be incredibly clear, direct, and compelling. This short video for Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) was designed to do exactly that for their new Parliamentarian Handbook.
My task was to create a promotional video that would drive awareness and encourage downloads of the SWA Handbook for Parliamentarians. The entire video is structured as a clear problem-solution narrative. It was designed to quickly establish the urgency of the global water and sanitation crisis and then position the SWA Handbook as an indispensable tool for the leaders who can make a difference.
The video opens with big, bold statistics to immediately convey the massive scale of the problem. By then connecting the lack of water and sanitation to other basic rights like health and education—using simple, clean icons—we quickly built a powerful case for why this issue is so critical.
After defining the problem and identifying parliamentarians as the key audience, the video introduces the handbook as "an essential tool." This deliberate framing elevates the guide from just a book to a practical, necessary solution for the problems we just outlined.
This project was a great exercise in building a persuasive argument through motion design. By structuring the video with that clear problem-solution arc, we were able to create a piece that is not only informative but also genuinely compelling for its target audience. It’s a good example of how to communicate the value of a dense, informational tool to a busy, high-level audience in under a minute.
