This project is one of my favorite kinds of success stories. It was a quick animation I put together for a pitch to Coca-Cola Africa for International Women's Day, based on a single, simple idea. And the best part? They chose it.
The brief was to create a short piece of content to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8th. The official theme for that year was #EachForEqual. My idea was to use Coca-Cola's most iconic asset—the bottle cap—to tell the story. I created a minimal animation where two caps form the number '8' for the date, and then seamlessly flip to become an 'equal' sign, directly representing the campaign's hashtag.
The core of this idea was its simplicity. I loved the visual puzzle of turning the number '8' into an 'equal' sign. Using the bottle caps made it feel instantly and uniquely "Coca-Cola," without needing any extra branding.
This was a really fast turnaround. I developed the concept and "threw together" the animation quickly for the pitch. The fact that such a simple, direct idea was chosen by a major brand like Coca-Cola was a huge win and a great lesson in the power of a clear concept.
This project will always be a special one for me. It’s proof that a good idea doesn't have to be complicated. It was incredibly rewarding to see a simple concept, born from a bit of clever visual thinking, get picked up and used by one of the biggest brands in the world.
